Nikon Rules the Rink

Had a chance to shoot the game at the Air Canada Centre.

These shots were done with the Sony A550 at ISO 1600 and the Sony 70-200 f2.8 G lens.

I saw six other photographers at the game. All six used the Nikon D3 or D3s cameras. I was surprised that everyone had Nikon. Ten years ago most of them would have been on Canon.

Maybe it was just that one night and next week's game will be mostly Canon users, but I found it interesting.

  1. Hi Rob

I am very interested in why are you so in love with the A550+70-200 f2.8 combo. What is so special about it?

  2. The camera is great in low light.... such as ISO 1600/3200 which is what I use for hockey.

Plus the focus is quicker than the A850.

The lens is great as well.... but I'm going to try the 70-300G at this weeks game.

  3. WOW, focus is quicker, how is that camera compare to A900? That's good to know; so my future choice would be A900 for FF work and backup of A550.. perfect match!

What I have now is A700 and I got my wife A200 (she likes it ok, she is not into cameras as much as me)
