How did I get so much dust on my sensor?

These shots are from the rodeo I was working the other day.

I usually like to position myself near the gates where the broncos and bulls come out but at this show that was downwind of the entire field. I decided to go to the other end and use a long zoom to get back into the action. These shots are backlit which really shows the dust.

I'm glad I didn't have to change lenses the entire day because the camera would suck that dust right in.

These were taken with the A35 and 70-400 G-Series from Sony.
