Autofocus Speed of the Sony A35

It's hard to get a racing horse in focus. They're moving pretty fast and the motion isn't smooth. I've used a number of cameras over the past 30 years, and a few of them could handle the motion and stay in focus. For the most part these cameras were high end, and pricy.

These rodeo shots were done with the entry level Sony A35, which is priced well below $800.

I haven't found another camera on the market that focuses this well, at this price.

These shots all need a slight crop but I wanted to show the full frame since people find it more useful.
