Grounded tall ship on the beach

You can't miss this grounded tall ship near Grimsby when you drive down the QEW and I thought it was worth a closer look. It turns out the ship was a replica of a ship used by French explorer Jacques Cartier and was gutted by fire in the winter of 2003. It's sat grounded on the beach since then.

It's easy to get to but hard to get a good angle on. I had a 45mm lens on my Pentax 645 but still had problems getting a clean shot of the ship without trees and shrubs in the fore-ground. If I can get a wider lens I might head back.

Maybe it's possible to walk out on the ice, but that didn't sound so safe to me.

  1. That's a great shot, Rob. Would never have known it was there -- thanks for making the effort.
