Do you need one more gift idea?

I ordered a new book and it just came in the mail.

This is the most beautiful book I've seen this Christmas and it would be on the top of my gift list if I had such a thing, and didn't just buy the book.

"A Shadow Falls" by Nick Brandt.

It's an over size coffee table book containing Nick's black and white photos of the wildlife of Africa. The book is printed in a beautiful warm-tone and the quality is out-standing. Of course it's the content that you buy a book for and this one doesn't disappoint.

I love great black and white photography, great shadow detail, sky's that aren't blasted out white, detail you want to touch, texture in the subject contrasted with out-of-focus areas. This book has it all.

Like a Karsh portrait, only of an Bull Elephant taken in Amboseli National Park in Kenya.

Like a Salgado of men working in a pit mine, only it's a backlit herd of Wildebees crossing a river in Masai Mara.

Like an Adams shot of the Jeffrey Pine, only this time there's a male lion under the tree.

Well, you get the picture.

Did I mention I really like this book.

And there's even a chance to make a difference with a donation to one of the non-profits doing great work in Africa such as www.tusk.org.
