First shots with the NEX C3

I had a chance to try out the new Sony NEX-C3 camera. This is the recent up-date to the NEX-3 that came out last summer.

The first thing you'll notice about the camera is the improved feel and look over the NEX-3. It's rounded off on the edges and has a comfortable pattern in the material. Overall the feel is very solid and comfortable to use.

I took a few images with the camera. These are all with the 16mm F2.8 prime lens. The camera was in the "auto plus" mode where the camera does everything and I just push the button. These shots are full frame, but have been reduced for a quicker up-load.

One of the main features on the new camera is the new sensor. It's up to 16 megapixels and retains the APS-C size which is great for more detail, better colour and better control over the depth of field. The camera size seems smaller than the previous NEX models and it would make a great choice for someone looking for a small package with a large sensor.

  1. hello,

low resolution photos don't help us to decide image quality. Can you post original photos?

    Thanks,

  2. images of this quality I make with my iPhone3gs on a regular basis, because I use it even in bad light. was it the light or is the camera/lens crap? or did you in fact use a camphone ;)

  3. uneulv....Did you bother to check that these posted samples were reduced to only 640 X 425 pixels?
Had you done so, you would have known that your image quality comment is totally baseless.
